DON DIVAS: HIP - HOP'S BADDEST CHICS

My Zimbio
Top Stories

HIT OR MISS? For months there has been reported beef between Hip-Hop music's Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj. Frankly, there is room at the top for everybody. You just have to bring your "A" game! Some paved the way and others have made their way to the top of the charts, mesmerizing television viewers, radio personalities and music buyers alike. I think between Lil Kim & Nicki Minaj, an awesome collabo could make Rap history, ladies first! What's beef? Beef is what's gonna keep these two apart. Is the challenge necessary?

Kimberly Denise Jones a.k.a Lil Kim represents Brooklyn, N.Y. hard and has made her mark in the Rap game. She is making a comeback and reportedly signed a deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. Lil Kim started her solo career in 1996 with "Hardcore", selling millions and going double-platinum. Since then, she has gone platinum again, won a Grammy Award and others. She definately has longetivity in this business and icon status. Lil Kim is also a songwriter, producer, actress, done modeling, the TV show "Dancing With The Stars" and the list goes on. Kim as a solo artist, arrived on the music scene and helped opened doors for other female MCs. We have to give Lil Kim props for that. She isn't a rookie or anyone's fresh meat but more like an accomplished World War veteran. Hip-Hop music is a male dominated profession. So, all hell the "Queen B" a.k.a Notorious B.I.G.'s (Biggie) protege' and former member of the group Junior Mafia. If you wonder how I came up with the title Don Divas, then here it is. Kim had a minor setback going to Federal Prison September 19, 2005 convicted of lying to a Grand Jury. She is a survivor, down for her people and a lyricist no female in the industry should be disrespecting. So, to all the young girls that wants to break in the industry, look at Lil Kim as the female Commander.

While on the other hand, Onika Tanya Maraj a.k.a. Nicki Minaj represents Queens, New York and is dominating the music scene as one of the hottest female artist anywhere. She is reeping music awards, collaborating on the hottest music tracks, topping the charts and record sales as a dominated female MC to reckon with. Lil Kim says she isn't "hot". Maybe, more like smoke in mirrors. Turn on any radio station. If you don't know, never heard of or seen Nicki Minaj, you must be sleep walking. Critics make a mockery of Nicki and Lil Kim of having fake boobs and plastic surgery. That doesn't stop their resources, ability and talent to achieve success. In any instance, they both have arrived on the Hollywood scene. Don't talk about, be about it. Money & fame often make you do what you have to do in order to be that special one among the crowd. Of course, there is a downfall to it all.

While Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. both were music icons in Hip-Hop, they both lost their lives to gun violence. For months and months, escalating words of dislike was echoed all over the music airwaves from East coast to West coast. Many people blame that particular type of "beef" as being an important role in both men's death.

We don't need to see that with our female MCs. So ladies, let's be lady - like about ourselves, get that money, continue to open up doors and simply do you. Freedom of speech and expression is a right. In Hip - Hop music, it sells records. Question is, where do we draw the line?

To sum things up, what many people fail to realize is that the animosity between rivals is often fueled by more than just hype. Music, just like the movie business consist of; business people, money, power, ballers, shot - callers and organized crime who actually puts things into action. The nature of the business is far more real than the average person could imagine. Check out a portion of Nicki's latest interview and the videos below.

Nicki Minaj Dubbed The "Queen Of Hip-Hop" By Rolling Stone [Flicks]

Nicki Minaj Rolling Stone FeatureLil Kim may not agree, but the newly dubbed “Queen of Hip-Hop”, Nicki Minaj, has definitely stolen the hearts of Rolling Stone Magazine.

In the new spread featuring the Young Money Princess, Nicki opens up about her success in the industry and why being famous wasn't her agenda behind making it in Hip-Hop.

“When I was little, I used to ask God to make me rich so that I could take care of my mom,” Nicki said in the interview. “I always believed that if I could take care of my mother then she wouldn't have to stay with my father.”

SHATTERED SOULS

Entertainment Blogs - BlogCatalog Blog Directory

"As I stood over my friend's lifeless body, my heart just shattered. I know she didn't deserve to die like that."

Tabatha Lewis (left) - Charlotte, N.C.
On Raleigh, N.C. resident Zaquavia Kingsberry's death 07/15/2010
in Atlanta, G.A.(pictured below)

While this story (above) made CNN's Nancy Grace and Atlanta, G.A.'s (Buckhead) is often referred to as "The Beverly Hills of the South", it shouldn't matter if it was Mayberry. The execution-styled murder of Zaquavia needs to be solved, at least for her kids and family sake. Questions remain. Was Zaquavia the intended target or someone else who let her take the fall? Was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Was this crime a set up? The last few people to see her alive in Atlanta should be the ones answering these questions.

Lennis Harris Sr. on his son Lennis Harris Jr. (pictured below)
Durham, N.C. "The last thing me and my son told each other was that, I love you."

- Quadruple murder took place in Durham, N.C. November 2005. Both of these cases has similarities. Roderick Duncan is the only one arrested and awaits trial in the quadruple murders. There are a few more out there that hasn't been brought to justice. Duncan is currently in Federal prison serving time out his ten year sentence for drug charges.

Truth is, the "stop snitching" attitudes and campaign that's going on in our communities, is helping prolong justice. It's funny how attitudes change when it's someone we love and care about. Also, many believe racial disparities, status and gender play a role in cases involving African - Americans. Once a life is taken, you can't undo the damage. IF YOU WANT CHANGE, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CORRECTIVE COURSE OF ACTION & FOLLOW THROUGH.

COLD CASE FILES: "THE DEMAND FOR JUSTICE"

NOTE: TO LISTEN TO THE VIDEOS BELOW, CLICK PAUSE ON THE MUSIC PLAYER AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE PAGE.

There are many families and other love ones who have suffered the ultimate loss. The sudden death of a son or daughter is a parent's worst nightmare.

Majority of us have been to a place we shouldn't have went at some point in our lives. Many instances, no sign of present danger existed at the time. There are times where victims are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong people. That doesn't neccesarily make them "guilty" of any wrong doing. The phrase "guilt by association" is often stretched to its' capacity before all the facts are given. Assumptions only lead to trial and error, not conviction.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. It's never right to take someone's life unless your own is in "immediate" jeopardy in lieu of defending one's self. Money is "never" an option but more like the root of all evil for many who thirst the power of "green".

Furthermore, there are those who fear retaliation to come forward with information that would lead to justice. With threats of physical violence similar to the same crimes committed, people tend to turn a cold shoulder and become mum at the lips.

Saint Matthew; Chapter 10, Verse 28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Law Enforcement has been accused for decades on numerous occasions of "not" doing enough, lacking the desire and intent to solve cases involving African - American victims, compared to the white counterpart. That old adage of, "we get what we deserve" is often used by those who speculate that blacks are just as much the criminals than victims. If that's the case, what good is it to have a system of justice, if it's only going to work based on status, gender, race and other discriminatory factors?

Therefore as people, we have to get involved and make a difference. Don't let victims of violent crimes be left, with a "cold hand".

Watch the videos below:

(Pictured left) From L to R: Lennis Harris Jr, Juan Coleman, Jonathan Skinner and Jamel Holloway, age - range 24-27 years old at time of death.
On November 19, 2005 the victims were shot execution - style in the Breckenridge Townhouse complex on Alpine Road in Durham, N.C. One victim who survived, jumped out the window to escape death. Another victim who survived, apparently was the one who opened the door for the perpetrators. The college - educated, well groomed, young men had enjoyed watching a football game together that day. Rodrick Vernard Duncan is awaiting trial in this case on four counts of 1st - degree murder, one count of attempted murder and robbery. According to witnesses, three men were seen fleeing the scene:

One was described as a black male with a light complexion, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing dark jeans and a black-and-white jacket.

The second man fleeing the scene was described as a stocky black male, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a burgundy flight jacket and jeans.

The third man was described as a black male with a medium complexion, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing a black flight jacket and blue jeans.

An addition to the Crime Stoppers reward, the Governor's Crime Commission is also offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with leads should contact Durham Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200 or Durham police at 919-560-4440 ext 260

This had to been one of the most horrific crimes that has ever taken place in Durham, N.C. A quadruple murder doesn't happen anywhere every day.

Creg Keith Johnson (below) (35 yrs old) was working at the Line-Up Barbershop as a Barber in Fayetteville, N.C. when he was murdered November 19, 2005. Creg was shot five times. Who would think that their last breath would be taken trying to make a living? This goes to show, we aren't completely safe anywhere.

Zaquavia Charne' Kingsberry (left) (33 yrs old) also knowned as "Qua" resided in Raleigh, N.C. "Qua" was majoring in her final year of accounting from Strayer University, single - mother of two, worked two jobs and had just purchased a home months before her death on July 14, 2010 in Atlanta, G.A.

Zaquavia had made good progress with her life. Most people wouldn't consider this a cold case because of the time frame. As a woman, the way her life was tragically taken, is "cold - hearted" itself, along with the person or people involved in her death.

Critics would probably say most of these victims above were involved illegally with something that caused their deaths. In my opinion, we all have short comings and make mistakes before we can get it right. I haven't met a saint yet who has lived a perfect life. That's part of the learning and growing process of living. We all have a past whether you are a pro athlete, model, writer, singer, judge or any other profession.

We as people have to "always" be more observant, vigilant, conscious of our surroundings, who we allow in our lives and never get enough of praying. Loving one another, being that extra pair of eyes to see and ears to listen can make a difference. When God sends us warning signs, it's a signal to take a better route. Ignoring that warning, can result in being our "last".

SEX IN THE PULPIT

Many people will agree, sex is a beautiful thing. One way it can get real ugly, is when you have pulpit prostitution taking place.

Scandal isn't something of the past when it comes to Bishops, Priests or Pastors of the church and the sins they often preach against. This is what makes sex in the pulpit to the media and community; astonishing, shocked, disappointed, humiliated and in total disgust.

How can you lead by example or your congregation, when your own house isn't in order? I'm talking about the house that your children, spouse and other love ones may reside. The one you leave before you come into the house of the Lord, with members paying tithes to fulfill your lust and riches. That's not even right, when we have homeless people out on the streets, living in poverty, people unable to afford healthcare or losing jobs to a dwindled economy.

Bishop Eddie Long is an awesome speaker, leader of New Birth Missionary Church in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I'm actually not ashamed to say I listened to him tonight on television. He is also a troubled man right now, with civil lawsuits basically accusing him, for a lack of better words, being a fake, flossing, freak in the closet so-called man of God. This is still yet to be seen in a court of law. But in today's society, we are really guilty until proven innocent.

Fancy cars, lavish homes, trips and lots of money is what most young people and adults dream of. What happens when you get it & have it snatched from right under your feet? Would the accusers (pictured above) have filed law suits if Bishop Long continued to give these things? Also, what kind of father figure performs sexual acts on their child and you still believe that's an act of a father? At 16-18 years old, are our minds developed enough to know right from wrong? Can a person take that much control of your life, where you are completely pimped or brainwashed? These are the questions the court needs to ask and get an answer?

Bishop Long is one of many pastors or priests over the years that has been accused of having sex with young boys or members of the church. We don't know what happened with him & four young men who have filed civil suits against him. Only God can judge him now and them. If all involved are lying or in denial because of money, lust or self-gratification, judgement day will take its course.

The Bishop has dedicated himself crusading against homosexuality. Now look at him now. First of all Bishop Long, I don't think too many people choose to be gay with all the peer-pressure, politics and controversy that involves the lifestyle. Regardless, we should be preaching how to love each other God's way, not the you're not living right adage. Especially, now after Long spoke to his 25,000 church members and the world to let us know, "I'm not a perfect man". Then again, who is? Now, look at him now. I feel like David versus Goliath Bishop Long said at a recent church service. I think he made a crucial mistake when he made this address. What was that mistake that made Long look guilty? He "never" stated, I stand before you in the house of the Lord to say, "I'm completely innocent of all these false accusations against me". That would have spoke volumes before his fellow worshippers.

It takes a fighter to move forward and let the truth prevail. It takes a coward to try to break a fortress down, use and abuse without just cause.

We should only wait and pray that this resolve itself for the best of New Birth Church, the families of Eddie Long and his plaintiffs, as well as the rest of the world who is so moved by this man's powerful speaking and influence. Bishop Long's congregation is continuing to stand by him right now. They are indeed, a part of his family. He should be thankful and I'm sure he is with the bullets he's dodging from those against him.

What's a house without a foundation? It's nothing, because all it will do is just "fall".
